Karen and Tim
welcome you to Earlsdon Butchers – Coventry’s first ethical butchers, located in the heart of Earlsdon. We pride ourselves in providing the very best quality meat for any occasion. Firmly committed to best practice in animal welfare, we only buy our meat from specially selected farms, and butcher and prepare everything here in our shop. If you want to know what we mean by ethical, read all about it in our What is ethically sourced meat? page.

Recent News:

We were recently featured on local radio talking about the mislabelling problems experienced by many of you over the past few weeks. The discovery of horsemeat in processed foods does not surprise us - the chain is so long in most supermarkets or catering companies that retaining a tight control of everything is very difficult. That is no excuse, of course.

We have always prided ourselves in knowing exactly where our meat comes from. The animals are delivered to the abbatior by the farmer, we collect the carcass and butcher it here on the premises. There is no processing carried out off site - all the mince is prepared here by Tim, and all of our ready meals (and all of our sausages!) are made with our meat. We will always tell you exactly what is in our products - we dont mix beef, lamb and pork unless a recipe demands it - and then we state this clearly on the label. If in doubt, please ask. Our staff will be happy to help.

The whole reason we took this route some years ago was BECAUSE we wanted to know exactly what was in our products.

We take pride in what we sell, and how we sell it.

Earl's Kitchen

Earl’s Kitchen is dedicated to producing a range of delicious meals, pies and snacks made to unique recipes drawn from years of experience in catering. Our ethos is that everything is made by hand, from scratch. The only way to achieve our home cooked style. Right down to the Cotswold produced cooking oil, we use some of the finest ingredients available locally. Sourced by ‘Earlsdon Butchers’ we use North Warwickshire Beef, Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork and wild venison from Charlecote Park. We strive to support local food producers and businesses, providing a transparent link in the chain between farm and plate.
Care and attention is paid to getting the basics right. Each meal is produced with the utmost care, and our processes have been carefully refined to give you the easiest possible eating experience. Simply heat through or cook carefully and slowly, and you will be rewarded with the taste of true home cooking.
Our bake at home meals for two are the stars of the show. Dishes include the ever popular Cottage Pie, Lasagne and Moussaka. Prepared right up to the point of putting in the oven, you’ll find that these dishes are perfect for busy weekday evenings where you need a bit of soul food cheer without having to lift a finger to prepare it. These dishes are available all year round.

Our seasonal heat and serve range is based on heart-warming classic British recipes such as Pork faggots in Onion gravy through to favourites like Chicken Chasseur and Boeuf Bourguignon. Look out for winter specials such as Pot Roasted Venison or Beef Brisket with dumplings.

Like spice? Our curries are innovative dishes, marrying together restaurant techniques and traditional flavours to create mouth-watering combinations. Try slow cooked pork belly in a Goan coconut and tamarind sauce spiked with mustard, curry leaves and chilli, or Chicken curries ranging from a fiery Madras with green chillies and southern Indian spices, through to a warming Rogan Josh with mild Kashmiri chillies and garam masala.

Available as pies for one to two, or four to six, depending on appetites, our top crust pastry pies have proven to be firm favourites. Again, every part of the process is  prepared from scratch in the traditional way, guaranteed to be free from gravy granules or pre-made pastry.
.
If you’re looking for variety, then watch out for our seasonal speciality pies. Think tender chunks of slow braised venison with sautéed mushrooms and dry cured bacon in a sumptuous red wine and redcurrant gravy, or a Steak and Kidney pudding, a true British classic and you have perfect food for the dark months ahead.

Fancy a snack? You’ll find pork and herb sausage rolls made with our own recipe flaky pastry. Meaty, crisp and utterly delicious.  Our pasties are made with dry aged beef, chunks of swede and potato and our delicious short crust pastry. Top of the shop is the Earlsdon spiced pork pie. A hand raised pie based on choice cuts of Gloucestershire Old Spot pork and our own dry cured bacon, pepped up with a distinctive spice blend. All this in a crisp pastry shell, finished with home- made jelly, is enough to satisfy the hungriest of lunch time appetites.
You’ll find our products available to buy at Earlsdon Butchers or on a bulk wholesale basis. We prepare all of our range from fresh ingredients, on a weekly basis, so you may find that some of your favourites aren’t available all of the time. If you’re browsing, the best selection will be found at the shop towards the end of the week. Alternatively, email earlskitchen@gmail.com or follow our Twitter feed @earlskitchen to find out what’s cooking and when it’s ready. You can even reserve your order to collect at your convenience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us by email if you have any queries about the products we offer.
